PROJECTS OF MAJOR NATIONAL INTEREST (PRIN) 2022
IN PROGRESS

Precursors of dehumanisation processes.
PRIN 2022
This project investigates potential differences in implicit responses to the presentation of faces belonging to one's own (ingroup) or others' (outgroup) ethnic group.
Using electromyography (EMG) and electroencephalography (EEG), we will measure children's muscular and neural responses to ingroup and outgroup faces under various conditions.
The impact of rhythm on neuro-cognitive development.
PRIN 2022
The project aims to explore how environmental rhythmic stimulation influences neurocognitive development in early childhood, with a focus on the processes of attention, learning and perceptual processing of stimuli. It is hypothesised that rhythmic stimulation can enhance cognitive abilities, improving attention to stimuli and consequently promoting the development of other cognitive processes, such as language. The project involves the recruitment of clinical and non-clinical samples, and the use of behavioural and electrophysiological (EEG) methods. The results will help to identify environmental conditions that may facilitate neurocognitive development.

The development of the relationship between numerical cognition and action.
PRIN 2022
Research project to investigate how and to what extent sensorimotor experiences support children's numerical and mathematical skills.
In particular, we want to understand to what extent fine motor skills (e.g. hand movements) can contribute to the development of numerical skills. The results obtained will also be useful for the implementation of new clinical strategies for the enhancement of numerical skills, such as in ASDs.
TouchDigitimer.
PRIN 2022
Using the EEG (electroencephalography) technique, the project aims to investigate whether children in early childhood are able to grasp the affective nature of others' tactile experiences and whether affective tactile contact is able to modulate the response to somatosensory stimulation and the child's tactile awareness.
