TO PARTICIPATE

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN OUR STUDIES:

Are you interested in collaborating on Bicocca Child&BabyLab's research projects? Would you like to get some more information about how and when they are being carried out? Would you like to find out more about active research?

Email us at: lab.primainfanzia@unimib.it, or

Alternatively, call us at: +39 0264483782

We will always try to answer you! However, it happens to go to voicemail. In that case, you can leave a message with your name, surname and phone number: you will be called back as soon as possible.

We will be happy to provide you with all the clarifications you want and make an appointment compatible with your schedule and the needs of the laboratory.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

By email or by phone, we will ask you for some personal information (name, surname, date of birth, telephone number and email) that will be entered into a database, accessible only to members of the laboratory. Once registered in the database, researchers with active studies will contact you by phone to propose your participation.

You can ask to be removed from the database at any time, and, in any case, you are free to choose whether or not to participate in each study.

IF I DECIDE TO PARTICIPATE, WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS?

An appointment will be scheduled, and a reminder will be emailed to you, with the study forms to be brought back to the lab signed and filled out.

A reminder will be sent via Whatsapp the day before the appointment, through which a confirmation of the appointment is requested.

Upon your arrival at Building U6 of the University of Milan Bicocca, home of the Bicocca Child & Baby Lab, you will find one of our staff members to welcome you. In case you have come by car, we will let you into the University's free covered parking lot. Once in the Lab, it will be the responsibility of the research staff to explain to you in detail the objectives of the work and how it will be implemented. When your child has settled in, he or she will be made to sit on a special seat in front of a computer monitor on which different stimuli will appear depending on the research design (for example, simple geometric figures or photographs of faces).

During the experimental session, the child's gaze will be filmed in order to observe how he or she explores the images presented to him or her, whether he or she manifests preferences with respect to what he or she is looking at or whether he or she remembers it. It is very important to point out that for each research the commitment required is only one appointment. The observation in which the child is involved lasts a maximum of 20 minutes, however, in order to respect the child's needs and his or her time, the appointment is expected to last about an hour.
